The Marlboro School Association

For more than a quarter century, the Marlboro School Association has been quietly supporting public education at the Marlboro Elementary School.

What is the Marlboro School Association?

The Marlboro School Association (MSA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity that was formed in 1994 to support the Marlboro Elementary School (MES) on a long-term basis. A small group of parents decided to create an organization that would raise funds for and manage an endowment for MES. Income from the endowment would be used to provide funds for projects and programs at MES.

What does the Marlboro School Association do?

The MSA mails an annual appeal to the Marlboro community. Proceeds from the appeal are added to the ever-growing endowment. Each year, the MSA distributes endowment income “to enrich the Marlboro Elementary School students’ education beyond that which can fairly and reasonably be raised through local taxes.” Only income is distributed, the endowment remains untouched. So any donations made to the MSA increase the endowment, and benefit all future students at the school, not just those who attend the year donations are made.

A few examples of the hundreds of projects and programs the MSA has supported over the last 25+ years include: funds for P.E. equipment, multiple playground upgrades, support for field research and special U.S. and international class trips, classroom furniture upgrades, many technology improvements, science equipment, Outback sound systems, reference books, shelving for the library, the climbing wall, soundproofing of various classrooms, outdoor disc golf, special workshops, the Compost Center, garden tools, and several music programs.

How can I support the Marlboro School Association?

Donations of any size are welcome, and tax-deductible as allowed by law. You can make them online HERE, or mail them to PO Box 213, Marlboro, VT 05344 or drop them off with Gail Chaine at MES. (Please include your contact information so we can thank you for your gift.) And please share with grandparents, other family members, and friends this way to support our wonderful school.

Who’s on the Marlboro School Association board and what do they do?

Each year, MSA board members send out an annual appeal, manage the endowment, and confer with teachers to decide on the best use of our endowment income to enrich students’ education at MES.

Our current board members are Anna Bario, Dana Gordon-Macey, Douglas Korb, Jason MacArthur, Francie Marbury, Lauren Poster, and Adrian Segar.
